Note: We have reworked the pages about ‘Drawing Like an Artist‘. This was developed to was to see if AI + artists’ quotes could help teachers generate an ongoing programme of short drawing workshops scattered, or woven, through the normal curriculum. These could develop students’ understanding and use of drawing as parallel and independent creative practice: one which many artists place at the heart of their creative life. We have added further example using a quote from Antony Gormley.
As part of this research a literature review was undertaken which considers the role of drawing in English schools art education over the last 20 years. It is also called (click here) ‘Drawing like an Artist’.
“Drawing is an alchemic language. My emotions force the drawing out of my hand-this explains why so many of my drawings are repeated images. It’s not because I draw the same thing, but that the same moment wants to be redrawn. And that’s the beautiful thing about drawing: it’s intimate, like handwriting, and the dialogue is between the paper and me.”
